Zapier Documentation

Things you will need to get started:

  1. A Zapier Account

  2. Basic working knowledge of the Zapier platform

  3. An account on our platform

Setting up your Zapier Account

Create a Zapier account. Although there is a free tier, we strongly recommend at least the first level tier. Power users will likely want to increase the number of Zaps they can use per month.

Setting up the integration

Please follow the instructions and use the same email address that you use to log into the platform. Use the API key that is generated to connect Zapier to ALI.

Understanding Our Integration

Our Zapier integration sends contact information to Zapier based on which triggers the user selects. This information includes which campaigns the contact is currently in.

One of the added benefits of this integration type is that we send updates through to Zapier within a few minutes of receiving them from LinkedIn. Please be aware that our platform is randomized to appear more human to LinkedIn, and we check in at random times, once per hour. This means that our average check in time is one hour, you may need to wait up to two hours to receive updates from LinkedIn. However, this integration will send that data within a few minutes of being received.

Any time one of your contacts has a trigger event, we send Zapier all of the relevant information on that contact, including which campaign(s) that contact is a part of. This has turned our new integration into a powerful endpoint to send contact-based data to Zapier and ultimately, your platform of choice.

Some of these triggers can send hundreds of Zaps through, so please carefully read through our trigger documentation before selecting which Zaps you wish to use.

Choosing your Triggers

Contact New

  • This trigger fires off whenever you get any new contact in your [platform] account. This means that if you want to grab user data from your Sales Navigator campaign or your LinkedIn user search, you can have this trigger turned on in Zapier. Please be aware that many systems do not allow record insertion unless the contact has a unique email address. LinkedIn search results for contacts with whom you are not currently connected may not have email addresses.

  • This is one of the most data-intensive Zaps. We strongly suggest only using this Zap if you need lots of raw contact data that may not include the contact’s email address.

Contact Update

  • The contact update trigger is our most data-intensive Zapier trigger. This trigger is fired whenever we come across updated contact information while gathering LinkedIn data. This means that we send through information on any users who may have been added to a new campaign, added or removed connections, or changed profile information, such as name, email, or business name .

Remove Campaign

  • This trigger fires when a user is removed from a campaign, allowing you to pull the contact out of any automations or email series specific to the campaign.

  • When a contact is blacklisted, they are removed from all campaigns

  • We send over all campaigns that the contact is currently in as well as the campaigns they were removed from when the trigger fired.

  • You may wish to use filters in Zapier to fire off Zaps to your CRM to remove a user from an automation

Contact Connection

  • This trigger occurs when a contact accepts a connection. This is one of the most useful and commonly used triggers in ALI and is often used to kick off automations in a CRM.

  • This trigger will use the fewest Zaps, which keeps your costs down compared to some of the other triggers in the platform.

Contact Status

  • This fires any time that this profile has their status changed in the platform. This can happen automatically, like when a profile goes from “Connected Waiting for Reply” to “Talking.”

  • This status change will also happen whenever a contact’s status is changed manually. This is useful for firing of the Custom statuses. For example, you can set up a Zap filter that sends through some status changes to special automations in your CRM.

Message In

  • This fires anytime this profile receives a message from a LinkedIn user. This can be used, for example, to send message threads to Slack so that Sales Professionals can be alerted when responses are received.

Message Out

  • This fires anytime the connected profile sends a message as a LinkedIn user. This integration is useful when you want to log messages that you send to other LinkedIn users so that you have context in a Slack channel rather than just the other party’s responses. Please be aware that due to the platform architecture, you may occasionally receive messages in and out at similar times, and they may appear to be out of order.

Manually Sending Data to Zapier

Each campaign, including “My Network,” has a feature in the drop down menu that allows users to send the entire campaign to Zapier. This is useful for manual updates or truing up data in a CRM. Please be aware that each contact sent will use one Zap, so large campaigns or “My Network” lists may use many Zaps from your account.

Once fired, the manual update will send a contact update on everyone in the campaign.
