Sometimes CASTANET will fail to connect to LinkedIn, preventing us from successfully running campaigns on your behalf. This article will outline the most common connection issues and how to resolve them.
Bad Credentials
This message appears when we can't log in because of an incorrect email address or password.
To resolve this issue:
- Click the "Credentials" link in the left navigation bar.
- Verify that the LinkedIn email is a valid email address and is the same one you use to log in to LinkedIn.com.
- Have you changed the email address associated with your LinkedIn account? Send an email to [email protected], and we can update it for you.
- If the email address was entered incorrectly, we recommend clicking "Delete these credentials" and adding your profile again.
- If the email is correct, re-enter your password in the LinkedIn Password field and hit Save Credentials.
- If you forgot your LinkedIn password, please reset it by visiting https://www.linkedin.com/checkpoint/rp/request-password-reset.
- CASTANET will log in or take you to another page to enter a verification code.
Needs New Verification
This message appears if your credentials are correct, but LinkedIn asked us for a verification code.
To resolve this issue:
- If you just logged in, check your email inbox. LinkedIn may have sent you a PIN. If you received it, enter it into the Verification code field on that page to get connected.
- If you didn't receive an SMS text message or email from LinkedIn, request a new one by pressing the blue Resend Verification Code button. Please input the new code into CASTANET within 10 minutes.
- If you've tried multiple times to receive a code from LinkedIn, but never got one, follow these steps:
- Ensure you're checking the correct email inbox. You can verify which email the code is going to by visiting the Credentials page within CASTANET or the account settings page on LinkedIn.com.
- If you still have issues, contact us via [email protected] to manually send a code during regular support hours.
Account Restricted
This message appears if we receive a warning from LinkedIn regarding your account.
To resolve this issue:
- Log into LinkedIn.com and see if you've received a warning on your account. LinkedIn typically gives a timeframe for how long the restriction will last.
- LinkedIn may ask you to verify your personal information to ensure you aren't a bot. Follow all the steps provided by LinkedIn to get access again.
- Once the restriction has expired, or if you see this error but still can use LinkedIn, please email [email protected] so we can reset your account.
- Review your limits on the Settings page within CASTANET to ensure you aren't sending too many messages or invites to connect daily. (Restrictions usually occur if LinkedIn worries about you spamming other users.)
Unknown Page
If you get a message saying that CASTANET encountered an unknown page, it usually means that we hit a page on LinkedIn that we aren't sure how to handle. The error will often go away within an hour or two as we perform more actions on LinkedIn. However, if it persists, please email [email protected] so we can look into it.
